WHO REMOVED THE GUARDRAILS? Reforging the Foundation That Was Sundered

Community Corruption and Lies Education Enemies of Civilization Foundations Health and Wholeness Personal Development The Lie What Your Father Should Have Taught You

Modern society is spiraling into chaos, and the culprit is clear: we’ve dismantled the time-tested guardrails—social norms, rules, and principles—that evolved over millennia to guide human thriving, without ever questioning why they existed. Perhaps it started with the enlightenment, one of the most amazing times in human history, but especially over the last century, self-proclaimed “experts” and progressives have arrogantly discarded these as obsolete, patriarchal, oppressive, or regressive, replacing them with vague promises of a utopian future. How’s that working out in your life?

As humans always tend to do, they took an idea too far and are now paying for their error. Do you doubt it? As I write this, (and I had to double-check it because it sounded like ‘fake news’ to me). I have just been notified that Christians who entered a church in Germany seeking encouragement and hope for troubled times encountered a “pole dancer” as entertainment. Where was the pole set up? according to reliable report: “next to the altar.” Someone has definitely removed the guardrails. Whether you are religious or not what do almost clad “pole dancers” have to do with the Gospel? I have said it before, the current struggle against woke is not just a political struggle. It reaches to the very foundation of who we are and who we will become.

Rising division, mental health crises, and societal breakdowns suggest that we are on the brink of disaster. Taken together these can all seem like an impenetrable Gordian Knot of problems. But we will not solve these problems hiding in partisan rhetoric. The core of all these maladies lies in a loss of values. Truth is the first value that must be restored, and it must be the foundation on which the power of the press stands. Mainstream media today has forgotten this. Trust once lost is not easy to regain, if at all. At SabersEdge, we ask: Isn’t it stop the slide rather than just letting everything crash?

We at SabersEdge think that it is time to rebuild on solid foundations instead of shifting sands of relying on the “expert” opinion of narcissists who refuse to admit error. And, as always, we not only call attention to the problems but read on to the end to find solutions to our shared dilemma.

Let’s be honest—neither progressives nor conservatives hold a monopoly on virtue. Progressives, often hijacked by Neo-Marxist radicals, push for bold change while ignoring human limits, much like Democrats today. Conservatives and Republicans have been plagued by corrupt Neo-Cons who championed George Bush Sr.’s “New World Order” and viewed individual liberty as negotiable. Republicans in the past have their own totalitarian streaks—think “Never Trumpers” who prioritized global dominance over freedom. Republicans under Trump have shifted toward populism, potentially becoming America’s first truly representative party in decades, but his can only happen if RINOs and Neo-Cons don’t reclaim control. Blind loyalty or hostility to any party or ideology is intellectual suicide; even Trump isn’t immune to criticism.

True progress lies in blending the best: advancing boldly while anchoring in proven principles from the past. Principles proven through the test of time. The greatest trees have the longest growth behind them and a civilization that survives centuries only becomes strong over centuries. But to do so it must remember the past, and, for us, we also must remember who we are and who we were before Neo-Cons, RINOS, and Neo-Marxist lies were fed to us daily through media. The root problem? Ideologues convinced us that everything old is bad, urging us to forget our heritage, sacrifices, and the social fabric that sustained us. They imposed “latest ideas” on human hardware—our biology, emotions, and cognition—evolved for hunter-gatherer survival, not modern complexities. So, we live in a world where our bodies, evolved to hunt, sit statically in front of a computer all day, and our minds, designed for problem solving simply push information mindlessly from point A to point B. As any computer expert knows, running incompatible software o a system not designed for it crashes the entire complex. That’s our world today: religions like Neo-Marxism and Scientism fail to address deep human questions that ancient philosophies and faiths once, although they may not have resolved, had more satisfying answers than “you are nothing and then you die.” [See also: It’s Always Been About Lies and Control – SabersEdge – Cutting Through Lies to Get to Truth – Reforging Foundations; and, Active Measures – The Subversion of the Good – SabersEdge – Cutting Through Lies to Get to Truth – Reforging Foundations ].

Modern movements like Marxism, Nazism, Feminism, Transgenderism, and others too often dismissed biology, claiming society is purely “socially conditioned,” promising a “New Man” or some Übermensch that never materialized. Science in the 80s and 90s debunked this oversimplification—human behavior is actually a Gordian knot of biology and culture—but the damage was done and the ideas that all problems are societally induced prevails as the books and articles are still out there and spawning new ones based on bad research.

Crime is not only a symptom of a sick society it is also a human reality. A reality the Liberals seem to hate to admit. Religion used to teach us that humanity was fallen. Humanity had flaw that were endemic to the species that led to failings spawned by pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony, and sloth. It is surprising to me, as I look at news, how much can be traced back to these traditional human flaws. A certain percentage of people will always give into their darker side and defy any social order that prevails and try to “short circuit” that order to “get rich quick” or avoid work. Worse, narcissists, psychopaths, and sociopaths (and what psychologists call the Dark Triad traits,) have a tendency to seek positions of power and importance and use that power – not to make everything better – but to increase their own wealth and status. That is not society’s fault. It is human nature. Society can, however, make it better or worse. Our society today has systematically made nearly everything worse by denying human nature and reality.

Evolution is glacial, so reactions to stress, betrayal, and danger are unchanged. This makes “wisdom literature”—ancient observations of human behavior—eternally relevant. From Sumerian sages to Biblical Proverbs, Psalms, and Ecclesiastes; from Jesus’ parables to Viking Havamal, Confucian teachings, Egyptian proverbs, and indigenous sayings—these distill truths about honor, dignity, hopes, and fears. They warn against timeless pitfalls like betrayal, lies, or what Christianity has called the seven deadly sins: pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony, and sloth. Ben Franklin’s wise sayings? Mostly Roman proverbs updated and translated from the Latin for his era.

These insights transcend cultures because humans are fundamentally alike—Asian, African, European, or Middle Eastern—sharing predictable responses despite environmental differences. Ancient stories, preserved in religious texts from the Iliad to Oedipus, reveal the same deadly sins. Dismissing them as “religious” eliminates our oldest records of behavior. Even Thomas Jefferson, no orthodox Christian, drew wisdom from the Bible, decrying “every tyranny over the mind of man,” including atheism and scientism—any dogma stifling free thought.

SabersEdge isn’t calling for a retreat to some mythical perfect past; there was none. Reverting to 1985, 1885, or even 885 won’t help—we’d just cycle back here anyway over time. The fact that we are here, indicates the seeds of today were already back then. But where? Instead of going back we must move forward, reintegrating core foundational beliefs and practices that worked in the past to create a stable society for building a bright future. But we must first admit that there are people who would rather tear everything down than lose personal prestige or power. Then we must recognize that our biological hardware remains Stone Age and geared to physical action and activity and if forced to remain sedentary and force-fed lies then depression and other mental health issues will predominate.

Today’s tyrannies stem from the fallacy that old is useless, and by those ignoring that our brains haven’t evolved in 200,000–400,000 years. the whole idea of “Settled science” is at best a myth and at worst a manipulative lie. Science thrives on doubt, questioning, and new discovery. Yet “educated” experts, armed with scant data but an overabundance of hubris, declared us “evolved” beyond guardrails built over eons. How can centuries of Enlightenment trump hundreds of thousands of years of experience? It can’t—this isn’t how evolution or true science works, but it’s how sociology and psychology have misled us for a century. These ideas crystallized for me around evolution’s gradual pace and ancient wisdom’s enduring value, especially after reading Brett Weinstein’s A Hunter-Gatherer’s Guide to the 21st Century. We’ve chased modern “cures” with more side effects than solutions.

SabersEdge advocates that we pay serious attention to books like evolutionary Biologists Brett Weinstein and Heather Heying’s “A Hunter-Gatherer’s Guide to the 21st Century” (2021). In this book they argue that many modern societal problems stem from a mismatch between our ancient instincts as hunter-gatherer evolved bodies and brains as they try to adapt to the hyper-novel/ever-changing environment of modern life.

Human evolution occurred over hundreds of thousands of years in small clans with specific survival demands and with set distribution of labor in a community where everyone knew their place and knew they contributed to the survival of the whole. The elite have embraced a fiction that there are people in society who are “essential” and most of us who are not. However, if anyone was paying attention during lockdows EVERYONE is essential for all of society to function. When you keep supposedly “non-essential” people at home everything stops functioning. Just because the “experts” don’t notice most of us, does not mean that we aren’t essential to society. I know a leftist who insisted he didn’t need ANYONE and could live happily without people. I told him that was impossible. He insisted it wasn’t. He could have his groceries and anything else he needed ordered on computer and delivered. “Who’s going to pack those goods, who’s going to deliver them, and who made them in the first place? At every step people are bringing you what you need.” But, like most liberals I have talked to, he just changed the subject. In my view everyone, from the McDonald’s worker to police officer, to bankers, are all essential for our society to keep going. But, like so much else in our society, the self-proclaimed “elite” live in a fantasy world where most of us are disposable cogs. That is why they foolishly believed you could replace 1st world workers with Somalis and other Third World denizens and there would be no cost socially, politically, or economically. They were and continue to be wrong. Western society is built on individuals and the concept of citizenship and NOT interchangeable faceless cogs. Today’s world, however, has introduced unprecedented changes faster than we can adapt. This hyper-novelty, as well as the fact that we have ignored basic human physical and emotional needs, explains the rising rates of depression, anxiety, chronic illness, loneliness, and social division. All this despite the fact that we live in a time where even the poor among us demonstrate unprecedented wealth, access to health care, food, and personal comfort.

SabersEDGE believes that their (Weinstein and Heying,) Key Concepts must be taken into account in all future policy, social, business, and government decisions. These concepts are included in these three principles.

CHESTERTON’s FENCE – The OMEGA PRINCIPLE – And EVOLUTIONARY TRADE-OFFS

  • CHESTERTON’s FENCE: In other words, if you don’t know why people before you built a fence where it is today maybe you should find out before you tear it down. Otherwise, you are liable to find out too late that there was indeed a reason for that fence exactly where and how it was build. In summary, before dismantling traditions or norms, understand why they evolved—they likely served adaptive purposes.
  • The OMEGA PRINCIPLE: Things that have stood the test of time have done so because they have a value and that value could be the best solution to protect human organization ad interaction. Or, long-standing, costly cultural traits should be presumed adaptive until proven otherwise.
  • TRADEOFFS IN EVOLUTION: As Dr. Thomas Sowell often says, “There are no solutions, only trade offs.” Weinstein and Heyer’s work warns us that human adaptations involve compromises; modern life often exploits or ignores these, leading to maladaptive outcomes.

When the book applies the lense of evolutionary biology to look at controversial, everyday issues, they advocate science based, rather than emotionally based solutions. The basic solutions are theirs while the explanations are mostly mine:

  • Sex and Gender: Biological sex differences evolved for survival advantages and should be acknowledged rather than dismissed; modern society too often denies real biological differences in information processing and reactions by different genders. Human beings, like most mammals, have a great deal of basic sexual dimorphism between the male and the female of the species. this is NOT opinion it is scientific fact that is denied by feminism and transgender idealogues who refuse to “follow the science.” This sexual di-mporphism between male and female humans is so obvious that if archaeologists find bodies the skeleton itself can tell the scientists whether the person found was male and female thousands of years after they died. In fact, they don’t even need the entire skeleton. The skull and jaw, backbone, hips, and other bones vary sufficiently between males and females that based on only a couple bones the archaeologist can tell whether his subject is male or female. Human males and females are that different! Modern denial of these realities and conflation of gender creates problems at every level in our society today and they are so easily refuted both physically and with biological and mental functions that it is amazing that the myth of “being the same” exists at all. It is not the only scientific fact that our society has made the denial of into a norm.
  • Diet and Health: Our lifestyle, activities, and even the food we eat war with our bodies and are destroying our health producing a myriad of problems. That is why personally, I am so glad that RFK, Jr. combined his MAHA – Make America Healthy Again ideas to the Trump administration. You can disagree with particulars, but it is passed time we had someone trying to do this. Decades ago I was told that the Food and Drug Administration (and other agencies we trust to keep us safe,) look like a who’s who of the big pharma and industrial food company’s leaders and CEO’s. I balked at that, and as I do, I investigated it. The statement was absolutely true. Worse, those who were not already tied to these industries that implied a conflict of interest, they retired from government and immediately got important jobs with one of those companies. Even the Guardrails we have tried to erect to protect us have been corrupted by greed, sloth, pride, or other sins. Today, processed foods, sedentary lifestyles, and over-medication clash with our bodies evolved for varied, natural diets and physical activity; issues like obesity, some chronic pain, and sleep deprivation arise from this. SabersEdge notes that for over a century we have allowed the health and well-being of the family farm as well, to fail. And we have paid for it with the failing health of our people and the loss of nutritional value in our food. The health and steadfastness of the family farm is the first pre-requisite for the flourishing and prospering of not only our health but our industry, productivity, and trade as well.
  • Parenting and Childhood: I remember in the 70s my mom, trying to apply psychological and sociological principles from university to my child-rearing. She would say, “Dr. Spock says…” and proceeded to tell me some new idea. I would respond with, “how many kids does he have?” “None.” Was his answer. It was not just a problem with this one expert. Today, nearly everyone alive was raised according to “theories” of “experts” who had little to no practical experience in what they were giving advice on. Children and our society have all suffered. Children are wired for free play, risk-taking, and exploration to learn; overprotective “helicopter” parenting, bulldozer parenting, and over-structured schedules and systems (as well as the use of medications to force children into stay within those structures,) all stifle natural development. This has created mal-adaptive adults, and it has failed to teach society even the basic problem-solving skills let alone skills to adapt to a hyper-changing society. • Education: Modern schooling often suppresses curiosity and experimentation, contrary to how humans evolved to learn through play and real-world trial-and-error. Playground monitors “in the old days,” concentrated on preventing excessive violence an chaos from breaking out not ensuring children took no risks. See my series Awaken the Lions about the problems with our destructive and soul-crushing education system. I spent my life feeling that after I retired, I would teach. However, schools have become so mal-adaptive the only way I can teach what needs to be taught is through my websites. [See also: Who Stole Your Education? • Sleep and Medicine: Until the industrial age, diaries and individual reports indicate tha humans used bi-phasic sleeping. Human sleep was divided into what they referred to as “the first sleep” and the “second sleep” in between people would get up and sew, repair things, read, or study until they got tired again and retired for the second sleep until dawn. This makes sense as there is no way hunter-gatherers would have every been safe enough to develop a long 8 hour sleep period. Like education, modern sleep norms have been accomodated to reflect the needs of industry and NOT to be reflective of human needs or practice. In addition, artificial light disrupts circadian rhythms; over-prescription of drugs ignores evolutionary tolerances, and everywhere we try to force change rather than to help our bodies change. Using quick fixes instead of fixing nutritional needs for healing and growth through unprocessed foods and herbal cures. Modern pharma doesn’t even do cures, it does quick fixes of symptoms. [ See also: Died Suddenly – The Facts, Science and Guilt – SabersEdge – Cutting Through Lies to Get to Truth – Reforging Foundations ]
  • Social Structures: We evolved in tight-knit clans, where everyone knew each other and safety was increased by knowing our neighbors and the majority of people in our community. Today we live in anonymous urban societies, contributing to modern isolation, anxiety, depression, and violence. [ , THE BETRAYAL OF OUR CITIES – SabersEdge – Cutting Through Lies to Get to Truth – Reforging Foundations; BETRAYAL OF OUR CITIES – IDEAS DESTROYING AMERICA and OUR ALLIES – SabersEdge – Cutting Through Lies to Get to Truth – Reforging Foundations; ]

Overall, these authors promote conscious adaptation. This is something our society has failed at, embracing the new with little to no discernment or wisdom. Not only in child-rearing and education, but at every level and in every arena time honored principles were abandoned for “progressive” theories with little or no solid data behind them. When families read the Bible, passing it around, they were not only teaching their children to read they were teaching them the values on which our society was built. Likewise, when students read the works of Cicero, Marcus Aurelius, Livy, Pliny, Seneca, and Epictetus they not only learned the foundations of Western History but the values of Western Society that formed the world they live in. They learned how language and society evolved and their own place in a history of over a thousand years. Now, without that, people feel lost, isolated, alone, and afraid as if they are adrift in time with no anchor and no compass because they have not been taught that civilization has a course and they are part of a civilization that has endured for thousands of years. All because “educators” claimed they didn’t want to “brainwash” our children. And yet these idealogues have done more brainwashing of children in the last 60 years than I ever faced in when all of this was just starting in the 60s.

If our society has abandoned us, then we ourselves must hack modern life by aligning it more closely with evolutionary and biological needs, while embracing innovation that benefits us and rejecting innovation that puts us at greater risk. Even if society doesn’t facilitate our hacks, the modern information society puts enough information at our fingertips that we can bypass the well-funnded propaganda machine of mainstream media and advertisements to see what aids have a basis in fact and which ones are just hyped to get us to buy. Weinstein, Heying, and SabersEdge all emphasize critical thinking over ideological dogma to navigate “politically fraught” topics and fact finding and research to trump reactionary responses to political and societal rhetoric. In fact, SabersEdge would warn that if you hear an emotional appeal that should immediately raise you level of caution and encourage you to look into it more deeply.

In addition, as I have said before, the algorithms and search engines wholeheartedly support “the narrative” the lies of modern society. I have numerous times shown how on a simple search for truth I have had to skip over 8 or more pages of results before I found what I had actually asked for. Other results are those that tell us what they want us to think. They know that most people will only look at the first page of results (which is why Amazon and other big spenders have most of those results leading to their companies.) The next several pages are either paying for access to your mind or there because they reinforce what the oligarchy wants you to think.

This book, “A Hunter-Gatherer’s Guide to the 21st Century” has been praised for its bold evolutionary insights and SabersEdge recommends it to all Freedom Troopers out there and any who want to navigate the world today.

At SabersEdge, through series like “What Your Father Should Have Taught You” and now “Reforging Foundations,” we update ancient language for today, so that you will have accessible behavioral hacks that were developed and held true for thousands of years so you can apply them in your modern life. Along with Thomas Jefferson we reject extremes and every dogmatic tyranny over the mind of man: old isn’t all bad, nor perfect. We analyze facts balancedly, free from political or corporate influence, to arrive at solutions for the benefit of all who want to build a strong and free nation based on time honored principles.

COMMON CULTURAL REFERENCES OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION:

  • Gordian knot,” is the knot that gave its name to a proverbial term for a problem solvable only by bold action. In 333 B.C., Alexander the Great, on his march through Anatolia, reached Gordium, the capital of Phrygia. There he was shown the chariot of the ancient founder of the City, Gordius, with its yoke lashed to the pole by means of an intricate knot with its end hidden. According to tradition, this knot was to be untied only by the future conqueror of Asia. In the popular account, probably invented as appropriate to an impetuous warrior, Alexander sliced through the knot with his sword, but, in earlier versions, he found the ends either by cutting into the knot or by drawing out the pole. The phrase “cutting the Gordian knot” has thus come to denote a bold solution to a complicated problem. [Encyclopdedia Britannica] [Personally, having read a good bit on Alexander, his view of himself as a philosopher king would lead to the idea that he used deduction and found the ends by drawing out the pole. Although that wouldn’t be as dramatic is sounds more Alexanderish to me. Now if he tried everything and still couldn’t find a way then he would certainly have cut through it.-Just my opinion Daniel Saber.]
  • “Ride to the Sound of the Guns,” refers to a quote from French Marshal Joachim Murat. Murat was one of Napoleon’s youngest and most dynamic cavalry commanders. He always seemed to be where he needed to be when he needed to be there (which is what we need to learn to do in our own lives if we want to make a difference.) When he was asked, “How do you always have your cavalry in the right place just at the right time?” He answered simply, “I ride to the sound of the guns.” As a soldier and Federal Officer (as do all first responders,) we are familiar with this concept. I was watching Daredevil with my son and Foggy Nelson and Karen Paige knew one of their witnesses were in trouble and they were listening over the phone as the guy was being killed. In frustration I said, “Why are they just standing there?” My son said, “Maybe because they already sent Daredevil on ahead? Most people aren’t like you Dad. When people hear gun fire or screams they don’t go to check it out. They hide or go the other direction.” He was right, there was nothing they could do that Daredevil couldn’t. It just seemed wrong to me. “When you hear gunfire or screams, somebody needs help,” I said. So, “Ride to the Sound of the Guns” isn’t just a saying for me. It’s a way of life.
  • “Seven Deadly Sins,” and “Hubris” were a compilation of sins that have dominated in the history of human failing and have been adopted as Dogma by the Catholic Church and others and has become part of Western literary, religious, and social culture. Hubris, is a sin often visited in Classical writings as an overweening pride that leads to a fall, while Biblical proverbs tell us “Pride goeth before a fall.” Besides Price, the sins include greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony, and sloth. Their recurrence throughout history behind some of the most dramatic falls of public and private figures whether you look in history or watch contemporary “crime” videos their repetitive recurrence is beyond dispute.
